Wiring

There are a few things that are holding up the test firing of the Rat’s R-16, including the fiddly wiring bits.

The ammeter gauge in these cars is wired directly in with the rest of the circuit. So a hot lead runs from the starter through the firewall to the dash and back around again.

This is a real fire hazard and both of my ’68 wiring harnesses had burns and breaks in this wire.

I added a 30 amp ATC inline fuse at the connector coming from the starter. The wire was broken here anyway. I used a piece of beer can cut into the size of the spade connector to help get it out of the connector.
