First bath in 10+ years

Finally I decided to give the rat a bath. The paint was slightly chalky and there are plenty of scrapes and scratches.

First a good wash, then a full day of scrubbing with polishing compound. I tried some rubbing compound, but it went right through the paint!

Light pressure with a damp cloth worked best. Some swirl marks showed up, but going back over the affected areas with lighter pressure a few times helped minimize them.

The next day, 3 coats of wax brought it to what you see here. Much easier to wax a roadster with no badges or taillights!

Not bad for sitting out in the Seattle rain for over 10 years.

A squeeky-clean rat.
